Search Tips

General tips

  • The search engine searches for beginnings of words
If you enter dans in the search field you will find dans, danser, dansk
  • Please use quotation marks to search for exact words and phrases
For example, enter "dans", "en dans"
  • Question mark is a so called wild card
If you enter pol?ka you will find, apart from polka, polkan etc, polskan, pollka, pollacka
  • Most punctuation, except the hyphen, is ignored, so please avoid them, since there are some that cause trouble.

Index search

You can only search for one word at the time in the index search, but it is still a powerful search tool, since you get an overview of which words in the database match your search criteria, and in how many records they occur.

If you would like to see all words in the database, please click on the Sök button, without entering any text.

You can use the question mark as a wild card in index searching. Adding it to the end of the word is not necessary, since the search engine assumes that there is one at the end anyway.

Exemple: To catch as many different spellings of schottis, you can try adding some wild cards and enter ?ot?is. Then you will get many relevant hits, for example:

  • SCHOTTIS
  • SCHOTTISCH
  • SCOTTIS
  • SHCOTTISCH
  • SKOTTISCH
  • BLOMSTERHULT-SCHOTTISCH
  • BÄCKSTUGA-SCHOTTISCH
  • ERSNÄS-SCHOTTIS
  • FAVORIT-SCHOTTISCH

But also some irrelevant hits:

  • GOTLANDVISA
  • POTATISVALS

The irrelevant hits were not that many, so the search would do great in the ordinary search, in case you want them all in a hit list instead of just clicking on just one.
